NASB | 1 John 2:2 and He Himself is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for those of the whole world. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 John 2:2 And He [that same Jesus] is the propitiation for our sins [the atoning sacrifice that holds back the wrath of God that would otherwise be directed at us because of our sinful nature--our worldliness, our lifestyle]; and not for ours alone, but also for [the sins of all believers throughout] the whole world. |
Bible Question:
George appears "to stress God's wrath in his witnessing!" Forgive me, but I must ask, "Please elaborate." I have many areas of weakness. This is one some would call "a thorn in the side." One I have given much thought and prayer to. Is this truly the way I depict myself? Do I not "state His Word as it is written, and then try to explain it to those who either do not understand, or simply do not agree with what it says?" To Love is the greatest commandment. Yet, isn’t it important to know of the wrath that comes to the disobedient. All constructive comments are welcomed. Not perfect yet, but In Christ George |
Bible Answer: Read the book of Ephesians and the parable of the wheat and the tares in Matthew. If you are a solider in Christ's Army, be well grounded in Love and put on the full armor of God. You are engaged in spiritual warfare not physical combat. The reapers are the angels at the time of harvest. Your mission, if you decide to accept, is to carry the light of the gospel to the POWs remaining in Satan's grasp. Christ as already declared victory on the cross. |
