NASB | 1 John 2:2 and He Himself is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for those of the whole world. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 John 2:2 And He [that same Jesus] is the propitiation for our sins [the atoning sacrifice that holds back the wrath of God that would otherwise be directed at us because of our sinful nature--our worldliness, our lifestyle]; and not for ours alone, but also for [the sins of all believers throughout] the whole world. |
Subject: How do we preach the Gospel? |
Bible Note: DAIRYLEADER5 For the most part I agree, however how many sinners do you get to preach too each Sunday. I'll guess your people meet far more each day at their jobs, schools, places of business, activities, and etc. If pastors would do what the Bible has charged them with, equipping the saints to do the work of the Lord, there would be a lot more workers in the fields. Look what brings most people into a church. Relationship and who better than the people they are in relationship with to tell them about Jesus. However the idea has been fostered that to get people saved they must be in church, under the preaching of a man calling them to salvation and to walk the aisle. I think some believe you can't really be saved unless the choir is softly singing "Just as you are", in the background. Therefore most lay people figure there is no way they can do that and be effective so they don't try. Oh their praying for their brother or sister, aunt or uncle but they are praying Lord sent someone to lead my " " to the Lord. Instead of saying Lord send me. EdB |
