NASB | 1 John 2:2 and He Himself is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for those of the whole world. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 John 2:2 And He [that same Jesus] is the propitiation for our sins [the atoning sacrifice that holds back the wrath of God that would otherwise be directed at us because of our sinful nature--our worldliness, our lifestyle]; and not for ours alone, but also for [the sins of all believers throughout] the whole world. |
Subject: How do we preach the Gospel? |
Bible Note: I am not a preacher or teacher. I hope to be a teacher in a bible college when I receive my degree at this late point in life. I am still in the process of perfecting my calling, whatever it may be, but you have just described what often happens to me. I had never been able to put it into words. What has happened this very day on this very forum. The Spirit has, and does regularly show me answers to questions that I have yet to formulate. The Spirit showed me through my studies that though people generally don’t like it, I am an exhorter, and that (though I was beginning to believe that it was a curse,) this is one of the gifts of the spirit. I know that there are many rough edges left on this stone, but that one day they will all be smoothed out, and that one day I will be placed in the church where Jesus is truly the foundation.
