NASB | 1 John 2:2 and He Himself is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for those of the whole world. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 John 2:2 And He [that same Jesus] is the propitiation for our sins [the atoning sacrifice that holds back the wrath of God that would otherwise be directed at us because of our sinful nature--our worldliness, our lifestyle]; and not for ours alone, but also for [the sins of all believers throughout] the whole world. |
Subject: How do we preach the Gospel? |
Bible Note: John By the way nature reveals God to thinking inquiring individuals. But our society is often contains self absorbed and self centered people who have been trained to think in relative truths rather than absolute truths. They also have been trained in humanistic logic that eventually reasons away anything that doesn't fit in their self centered world. So while you might say Paul demolishes true atheistism, I have run into enough people that I’m convinced Satan and his lies are alive and well on planet earth. EdB |
