NASB | 1 John 2:2 and He Himself is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for those of the whole world. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 John 2:2 And He [that same Jesus] is the propitiation for our sins [the atoning sacrifice that holds back the wrath of God that would otherwise be directed at us because of our sinful nature--our worldliness, our lifestyle]; and not for ours alone, but also for [the sins of all believers throughout] the whole world. |
Subject: How do we preach the Gospel? |
Bible Note: John Your statement,"The question I was answering was "If someone does not accept the Bible as God's word, then tell how you would convince them there is a Creator?" My response was "I don't believe that anyone (without certain exceptions; Infants, severely hanicapped etc.) does not truly believe in a Creator. If they really did'nt believe they would have an excuse before God." I take it, we agree up to this point. Right?" No here we don't agree, I have met many that are true atheist, while I might think them educated idiots. I assure you they weren't infants or handicapped. Unless your claiming their handicap is what made them idiots in my sight. Yes your remark was too sweeping and from that point on we once again agree. :-) EdB |
