Subject: How do we respond to war as Christians? |
Bible Note: Greetings Coop! Thanks for the response! I realize that many of us will have different views and approaches on this subject. In fact, it was debated for quite a while just a short time ago. My "bone of contention" is not one's like or dislike of war. My "bone of contention" is that statement that usually gets tossed out "war is evil." None of the Scriptures you mentioned, or Johnny, says that! I agree with most of what you said, but I do see a difference between nations and individuals. If someone came into your house, you could choose to loving let him take everything you have, including your life. But, national leaders have an obligation to everyone they represent. I don't think that principles of individual Christian relations necessarily carry over exactly. Wasn't God perfectly able to stop or punish the nations of Deut. 7:2, yet God told Israel to do it? My humble opinion is that there are both just and unjust wars. Unjust wars seek to simply gain land or materials, ect.... Just wars seek to defend rights and justice.
