Subject: What is God's teachings on military war? |
Bible Note: Thank you Johnny...Yes it was helpful. I knew this in my heart, but I didn't know where to look to confirm it. When I protested our current war as it stands, some would say, "well God has commanded war many times throughout bible history"...or..."well we have to defend ourselves, we can't let terroist take over our country". But I know in my deepest heart, the way we are going about this must be wrong. I would argue things like, but if we were truly a nation filled with the spirit of God, we would not need a single plane, or a single bomb. And, Jesus said for us to love thine enemy, and Thou shalt not commit murder. I also argued that all the biblical wars I knew of were in the old testament under the law, that we now live under grace, by faith. Jesus has set a standard, by example and teachings of the word of God for us to live by. I truly believe that if we were to follow that example, offer our nation back to God...He himself would take care of our enemy without us ever lifting a single sword. Vengence is mine saith the Lord. After all...our true fight is not with flesh and blood, but with the principalities of darkness. Our battle is spiritual....how can you win a spiritual battle with fleshly weapons? I am concerned that we, as a nation are acting out of spite, pride and revenge...instead of seeking victory, Jesus' way. And that the very "freedoms" we proclaim to be fighting for have become perverse. Thank you again. coop1 |
