Subject: What is God's teachings on military war? |
Bible Note: Dear sweet coop1: By your tone it is apparent that you bear a lot of hostility towards me for having been in a war. Why don't you just come right out and label me a monster and a baby killer? Don't try to justifiy your hostility with your sophistry and piety. You asked: "Are you looking for recognition for having contributed to war?" No. How do you interpret "I am living proof that war is hazardous to one's health" to mean that I am looking for recognition or hero status. And how do you imply that I worship heroes of war and not God? Another nutty assumption. Show me where I said one word about heroes or made any comparison between those who fight in a war and those who choose not to. Your pious pacifist propaganda against this country and its freedoms is an offense to every veteran. Having written 239 postings since March, I know this is a BIBLE forum. If you have a point, would you mind telling us what it is? I have looked and I find no biblical back up for your position. A lot of other people on this forum don't see any biblical support for your position either. You have not proven or disproven anything. As I told you in plain English in my previous post: "I am not arguing the rightness or the wrongness of your opinion." So WHY would I need biblical back up? Back up what? It doesn't take an expert to have enough sense to know that the purpose of the Army is to break things and kill people - period. Whether that is something a Christian should take part in has nothing in the world to do with what I was trying to say. Read it again in context. My point is if someone has a family member who joined the military, they should expect that someday they may have to take up arms against an enemy. What did they think they were getting into when they joined? The Army is NOT the Peace Corps. And again I told you in plain English "I am not arguing the rightness or the wrongness of your opinion." So why are you asking me to defend a position? That our freedoms were bought with the blood of America's veterans is not an opinion. It is a mere statement of fact. After more than 27 postings by you, we all have a pretty good idea what your opinion is. No one will ever convince you that your opinion in this matter is biblically wrong. And I told you I'm not arguing your opinion. "I'm not arguing the rightness or the wrongness of your opinion." I'm just telling you that in my opinion, you have run it into the ground. You're right. This is a Bible forum. It's not a forum for people to write dozens of postings in order to defend an opinion. If you had a point that you haven't already made 27 times, that would be different. I know you don't believe in war. Under the U.S. Constitution (but not Muslim law) you have the right not to believe in war. I say again: "I am not arguing the rightness or the wrongness of your opinion. But a) please don't try to pass off your opinion as absolute truth; and b) it's getting a bit wearisome." Give it a rest. K? Radioman |
