Martha, thank you for your response. I can agree with you, at least in part, that had the Germans (especially the Nazi leaders) been Christian, WWII might have been averted or, at any rate, ameliorated. (There were other Axis powers, other than Germany). But the reality is that our country fought, fought hard and long, not because we were looking for someone to kill, but because we had to oppose the evil regimes that threatened our very existence as a free people...... Now we are engaged in a great crucible on another front with enemies who do not know Christ either. The people and the theater of operations are different, yet the principle is still the same. We are opposing the evils and terror being perpetrated against us as a free nation and indeed against the civilized world. Personally I have far more gripping pangs of conscience by sitting idly by and enjoying the blessings of freedom than I have in taking up arms to defend it. --Hank
2 | How do we open eyes to truth? | Deut 7:2 | Martha | 24452
I do not feel guilty. I did not command the middle easterns government to start war and I did not command the United States government to follow through. I for one, I'm fine where I'm at, and yes, I enjoy the blessings God has brought me, for if he has allowed war to happen and others to fight for us, then let it be. They will also receive their reward, as well as we will. It just that God has appointed some to fight and quarrel while he has appointed others to watch and observe the world until he comes. |
