1 | How do we open eyes to truth? | Deut 7:2 | coop1 | 24230
Yes I know. There are a lot of different arguments out there "for" war. I think it is a "reasoning" that is taking place. It is what we humans do to justify our actions when they do not line up with the word of God. What surprises me...is the number of Christians who are doing this, when clearly as you say...we are under a new covenant...and also when Jesus was so against any kind of revenge or fighting back theology. The whole Jesus story says..."you can count on our Father in heaven, you do not have to avenge yourself". For some reason, people seem to be having a hard time applying this to our current situation. I stand that...God is a MIGHTY God, and perfectly able to defend those who stand with Him, against terrorism. It is only those who are not standing on the word of God, that need to fear and there for, want hopelessly to try and defend themselves. Our war is a spiritual war as Christians and that is where we will find victory. How do we open the eyes of fellow Christians to this truth? Where do we begin? coop1 |

2 | How do we open eyes to truth? | Deut 7:2 | Martha | 24396
From reading everyone's note I can see we are all very confused and war is a very touchy subject. From reading the bible and from learning from Christ's teachings. This is what I have come up with: To answer your question "How do we open the eyes of fellow Christians to this truth? WE CANNOT. It is God's job to teach and instruct each and every single one of us to do the job that he wants us to do. He has taught you and I and a few others that war is not permissible for us but he has taught something different to the rest of the people arguing with you. He will open our eyes to the truth at his own appointed time. Then we will know who was right and who was wrong. We don't know who is blind right now, it could be us or it could be them, but both sides cannot be right. One of the sides is wrong and the other one is right. Only God will fix this. Wait until he returns and each one of us stands in front of him. In the meanwhile, I say war is okay for the government and for the rulers of this earth including satan. War is not okay for us Christians to whom God has opened their eyes to not war, because then we would be sinning and would have to answer to him. If we are ever at war, here on our land, we will be right in the middle of it and we will have to choose to kill or not to kill. I for one, know not to kill and will not. If the govenment demands for me to get involved I will join the Red Cross and help the victims on both sides of the war. I will be just like the Red Cross, neutral and helping all the needed ones. They are helping in Afghanistan right now. They are in the middle of the war and they are not killing, they are helping the dying. The government does not kill them, they praise them and give them what they need. The people in Afghanistan whom have joined the Red Cross should be praised for as well. Let the war subject be at ease. Let us be Christians and concentrate on God and Christ. Martha, |

3 | How do we open eyes to truth? | Deut 7:2 | Hank | 24406
Martha, I can and do respect your right to give your views on war and peace without agreeing with any of them. I'm old enough to have known a number of men, Christians all, who fought in World War II. Had they held the same pacifist views that you apparently do, we Americans might well be speaking German today and wearing swastikas on our sleeves. --Hank
4 | How do we open eyes to truth? | Deut 7:2 | Martha | 24414
If the Germans had believed in Christ and known his point of views. World War II would have never started. This is an evil world and will not end until every single person knows Christ, and they will. You will see it, just as well as I will, war will not be needed any longer. We will have one King and ruler only, Christ, our Lord and Savior.
5 | How do we open eyes to truth? | Deut 7:2 | Morant61 | 24417
Greetings Martha! I hate to sound like I am picking on you, but once again you have made a statement that I would like to see in Scripture. You said, "This is an evil world and will not end until every single person knows Christ, and they will." Where exactly does the Bible say that? Do you mean in the sense of accepting His Lordship or simply acknowleding His existence? Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

6 | How do we open eyes to truth? | Deut 7:2 | Martha | 24425
Zechariah 8:1-23, God is talking about the future everyone will know him, he will rule and have a world of peace. Read Malachi and Revelations. "Thus says the Lord of Hosts: 'People shall yet come, Inhabitants of many cities; The inhabitants of one city shall go to another, saying, "Let us continue to go and pray before the Lord, and seek the Lord of Hosts. I myself will go also." Yes, many peoples and strong nations shall come to seek the Lord of Hosts in Jerusalem, and to pray before the Lord.' "Thus says the Lord of hosts; In those days ten men from every language of the nations shall grasp the sleeve of a Jewish man, saying, "let us go with you, for we have heard that God is with You. Zechariah 8:20-23 God will be physically be with us and we will be able to pray in front of him. |

7 | How do we open eyes to truth? | Deut 7:2 | Morant61 | 24430
Greetings Martha! Zech. 8 is a reference to the millenial kingdom. During it, nations will recognize Israel as being God's people. Do you think this means that everyone will be Christian? Will this situation last, since Rev. says that after the 1,000 years there will again be war (Rev. 20:7-10). p.s. - I love Zechariah! :-) Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

8 | How do we open eyes to truth? | Deut 7:2 | Martha | 24448
Keep reading, all the way up to Rev 21. It also says there will be a second death, which will be the ultimate death for all the evil ones. The ones remaining will be Christ's bride, and he will rule. Yes, at the end, only Christians will remain. This is what I was talking about when I said Hank will see it and so will I, we will awake again, and if we do not receive the second death, we will see it. I'll do anything that it is in my power not to receive it. Obey God, with all my heart, all my might and all my soul. The war after the millenium is to get rid of all the ones who slipped by during the millenium. They will be tempted by the Devil again, and if they cannot control temptation and follow God, they will receive the 2nd death. |

9 | How do we open eyes to truth? | Deut 7:2 | coop1 | 24474
Exactlty Martha! This whole thing, every situation and circumstance is leading up to the fulfillment of God's plan, which we know, at least in part...is to do away with evil once and for all. We can not stop it, terrible things are coming upon this earth. The wrath of God coming upon the wicked. We are now feeling the beginning of birth pangs I believe. But what we can do is adhere to God's word and trust in Him. Why are people having such a hard time with that Martha? Why is it so hard to believe that if you trust in God...all will be ok. We do not have to add to the chaos, nor should we...at least in that respect. We do not have to live by the sword, or in fear or in darkness. Why do they think they must fight and mame and kill as the heathen do? I am having a hard time with this one Martha. Thanks for listening coop1 |

10 | How do we open eyes to truth? | Deut 7:2 | Martha | 24518
People must fight and defend themselves because even though we are Christians we are still human beings. We are afraid God will say no to our prayers, we are afraid He will not listen and we are not strong enough to leave everything up to him, Holy Spirit or not. God sometimes will not listen to us, and he will let others kills us or get punished by them. Remember the two guys in the fire? They wouldn't pay attention to the government and worship other gods, and they said God would defend them and if he did not and die it would be the same to them? We're not strong enough to say that. God saved the two guys by going into the fire with them. Don't have time to look for it in the Bible. By the way we cannot change other people's point of view. Relax and ask God for understanding and wisdom in this area. |
