1 | What is God's teachings on military war? | Deut 7:2 | coop1 | 23600
I know that our war is not with flesh and blood, but with the principalities of darkness; but what are God's teachings on military war? Should we engage for "right" reason, or not? Wouldn't there be a difference between war under the law and war under grace? ie: the old and new testaments.
2 | What is God's teachings on military war? | Deut 7:2 | jlpangilinan | 23601
De 7:2 And when the LORD thy God shall deliver them before thee; thou shalt smite them, and utterly destroy them; thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor shew mercy unto them: In the old testament God Commanded people of Israel to go to war in order to defend Israel and the same time thier faith (Jewish)Because at the time Irael is only the nation that Worship the true God. In order to protect the Jewish Relegion they have to go to war against those nation that treat Jewish relegion because they know if any of this nation will invade them it will change thier kind of worship. If we recall when Babilonians invaded Israel, Daniel and other people of Israel force to worship Idols. When Jesus Christ crusified give as share of the commonwealth of Israel we are now believed in the same God, so there is no reason to go war against each other, even us gentiles now believed in the same God: Eph 2:12 That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world: Jesus Christ never encourage anyone to go war against each other, He also instructed people to flee to the mountains if there are treat for thier life. He never commanded us to fight back: Lu 21:20 ΒΆ And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh. Lu 21:21 Then let them which are in Judaea flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto. Jesus Christ also gave an specific instruction to soldiers: Lu 3:14 And the soldiers likewise demanded of him, saying, And what shall we do? And he said unto them, Do violence to no man, neither accuse any falsely; and be content with your wages. About Christian warfare: The Christian life is represented as a warfare, and the Christian graces are also represented under the figure of pieces of armour (Eph 6:11-17; 1Th 5:8; 2Ti 2:3-4). The final blessedness of believers is attained as the fruit of victory (Re 3:21). I hope it would helps God bless, Johnny |

3 | What is God's teachings on military war? | Deut 7:2 | coop1 | 23640
Thank you Johnny...Yes it was helpful. I knew this in my heart, but I didn't know where to look to confirm it. When I protested our current war as it stands, some would say, "well God has commanded war many times throughout bible history"...or..."well we have to defend ourselves, we can't let terroist take over our country". But I know in my deepest heart, the way we are going about this must be wrong. I would argue things like, but if we were truly a nation filled with the spirit of God, we would not need a single plane, or a single bomb. And, Jesus said for us to love thine enemy, and Thou shalt not commit murder. I also argued that all the biblical wars I knew of were in the old testament under the law, that we now live under grace, by faith. Jesus has set a standard, by example and teachings of the word of God for us to live by. I truly believe that if we were to follow that example, offer our nation back to God...He himself would take care of our enemy without us ever lifting a single sword. Vengence is mine saith the Lord. After all...our true fight is not with flesh and blood, but with the principalities of darkness. Our battle is spiritual....how can you win a spiritual battle with fleshly weapons? I am concerned that we, as a nation are acting out of spite, pride and revenge...instead of seeking victory, Jesus' way. And that the very "freedoms" we proclaim to be fighting for have become perverse. Thank you again. coop1

5 | How do we respond to war as Christians? | Deut 7:2 | coop1 | 23663
Thank you for your confirmation Johnny...it feels good to be confirmed. I guess as human beings we need that...but we also need spiritual confirmation, especially in such trying times. My next question than is: How do we respond, as Christians, to our current war time situation? The entire country is backing our governments actions. While we must adhere to the laws of our land, and support them through prayer for God's guidance and intervention...how do we discourage this spirit of vengeful power among our family, friends and countrymen; without appearing like just another radical religious group? It as though in these times, the very Truth spoken aloud...feeds the fire, God forbid. It very easily becomes twisted and turned by an unbeliever. Even among the believers, some seem to be overcome with this spirit, and argue some of the same, earthly points and lean toward being "for" this war. "Forgive me Lord if this question comes from lack of faith." |

6 | How do we respond to war as Christians? | Deut 7:2 | Radioman | 23673
In my opinion, how we as Christians respond to war (for or against) is a matter of conscience -- each individual's conscience. Each man must decide for himself. Both proponents and opponents could support their views by quoting Scripture. And I'm sure someone could quote Scripture to "prove" I am wrong. :-) Well, that's what this forum is all about, isn't it? |

I agree with you. And I know that. That's why I labeled my post as my opinion. Many on this forum post their opinion as absolute fact. I did not do that. I posted my opinion as opinion. When you find the "Truth" about this question, please share it with us, will you? I await your Truth with bated breath. |

Thank you for your response. I have not answer because I have been away for the holiday. You are right, you did label your statement as your opinion.
