There is no merit to the idea that Scripture ought to actually say what we say it says? Allow me to illustrate! If someone were to ask me, 'How can you say that all men are sinners? Can't some people live without sin if they really try hard?' I would respond: Rom. 3:23 - "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God," This is an example of using what Scripture actually says.
