Bible Note: JibbyJee: Put a Reformed/Calvinistic spin on John 3:16 if you must -- and this will take us down the semantic path where the road signs read: "Proceed with caution. Words don't say what they mean and don't mean what they say. Be especially careful when approaching a bridge that says 'Have faith in this bridge. Trust it! This bridge has the ability to save ALL vehicles that come to it from perishing in the abyss.' But what it really means is that only a predetermined few vehicles will be saved and the rest will perish." ..... I spent some 35 years in a reformed church so I doubt that you are going to teach me anything new about the Five Points. This forum has had its share and then some of heated debate on Calvinism v. Arminianism. If you wish to read hundreds of posts on this topic, hit Search and go for it, but I'm not going to be sucked in to yet another pointless debate of this matter. Adieu. --Hank |
