1 | Is God omnipotent? | John 3:16 | Mickodemus | 89332
Greetings Tim, If what you say is true, you are telling me that Gods abilities are limited. That He is not omnipotent(having unlimited power/ability). God is trying to get people to believe/have faith in His Son but while drawing them in, he loses them (like fishing for that big mouth bass: The fish is just too heavey to pull in, and when caught, the fish is pulled in with the net having a hole at the bottom and he escapes.) ;) Doesn't God have the PERFECT fishing equipment to hang his prize catch on the wall? :) Don't you think that God had to get the Jailer interested in what Paul and Silas was doing to see how Great Salvation in Christ really is? The words interested and see (eyes) must have been given him by the Father. Rom 3:11 "There is none that understands, there is none that seeks after God." The only ones who seeks God, must be given the interest by the Father first and then belief! The Holy Spirit must be within you to have faith, otherwise you are not adopted. Which brings another good point: What decisions do adopted children have in their adopted parents? None, the parents chose the adopted child and therefore is a member of the family! In Christ, your brother, Micko |

2 | Is God omnipotent? | John 3:16 | Morant61 | 89351
Greetings Micko! The 'God is limited' arguement is a strawman my friend. Obviously, God can place limitations upon Himself. Does Phil. 2:6-11 ring any bells? Did Christ become less God because He took upon Himself the limitations of humanity? God giving us a choice does not make Him less God, nor does it make Him less sovereign. But, you never have answered my question about Acts 16:31. Does the text say that salvation comes before or after faith? If I remember correctly, your original point was that regeneration precedes faith. Is a regenerated person saved? I would say 'Yes'! So, according to Acts 16:31, regeneration cannot possibly precede faith. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

"The 'God is limited' arguement is a strawman my friend. Obviously, God can place limitations upon Himself. Does Phil. 2:6-11 ring any bells? Did Christ become less God because He took upon Himself the limitations of humanity?" Excellent point...it is hard for us to imagine that God, the creator of the universe would place Himself under covenant obligations to man...He certainly did not have to tell Abraham that if he would leave his father's land that He would bless him...He could have just said..LEAVE OR DIE! God bless |
