Bible Note: Hi, Pray On! Not only in third-world countries... here in the good ole US of A is also happening! I've been trying to follow some of this thread... it seems that some equate having wealth to being closer to God... and that Jesus has some how guaranteed that those who Believe in Him will not suffer any needs... What Bible version are they reading? What congregation purports that anyone who is not middle class and up is does not believe in Christ? Were Jesus' warnings against the blindness created by the lust for wealth and power idle rhetoric? And when Judas feigned interest for the poor did Jesus not state that there would always be poor in the world? Did Jesus not admonished that His followers should strive to amass treasure in Heaven and not on earth? Can you imagine Christ's "Club" being closed to people with yearly incomes below 100K or so? You are right! People are burying their heads in the sand! Not only that, they are reinventing Christ... making Him a more affluent and political correct Savior! God Bless! Angel |
