Subject: claiming things in your life |
Bible Note: Actually, the correct Scripture is (forgive me) Mark 11:23- "Truly I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be taken up and cast into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says is going to happen, it will be granted him."- I've seen this verse referred to as "say-it faith." First line in my post I said I've seen it referred to as "say-it" faith..not that it is. And I think that this is a Christian website, so I would assume that most here are walking with the Lord and in His Word, leading to request that could only be for the glory of the Lord, seeing as we are indwelt by the Holy Spirit. And can God actually move a mountain in our lives or the lives of others?? Ohh, yes! Our God is an Awesome, Powerful God. All things are possible for Him and through Him all things are possible for us that please Him and are according to His will. It pleases Him to bless us that He may be glorified! Moreover, Jesus never teaches to have faith in faith. He always teaches to have faith in Him. Some could say that Christians have faith in the Bible, which we do in a distinct fashion (not getting into that debate now), because it is God's Word, because we have faith in the Bible, does that mean that our faith in Jesus is less than average? Never that! It points to Jesus and His work. Romans 10:17- So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ. And moreso 1 John 5:4- For whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world--our faith. Finally Hebrews 11:6- And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him. So, have faith in faith, no, never that! But having a faith that is strengthened by "saying" Scripture aloud to stand more firm on the promises of God (I mentioned it in my post, that I do this) is by no way discouraged in the Scripture. Actually, we are told Matt 12:37- "For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned." And I know that God will not judge those who rightly speak His words in faith. So, finally brother in Christ, I was not trying to offer my answer as to whether "name it and claim it" was right or wrong. I'm not very educated in where the phrase came from or where it originated, I was only trying to give the only example of speaking as a means of faith in the Bible. God Bless and keep you. hidden in Christ, Lissa 1 Peter 5:5- You younger men, likewise, be subject to your elders; and all of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, for GOD IS OPPOSED TO THE PROUD, BUT GIVES GRACE TO THE HUMBLE. |
