AMPLIFIED 2015 | Isaiah 53:5 But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was crushed for our wickedness [our sin, our injustice, our wrongdoing]; The punishment [required] for our well-being fell on Him, And by His stripes (wounds) we are healed. |

Bible Note: Janae - Psalm 103:3 is a parallelism. "Diseases" refers to spiritual afflictions, parallel with iniquities. It says nothing about Jesus' atoning death being for our physcial afflictions and therefore does not prove your case. James 5:14-16 is about the leaders of the church praying for the sick among their flock. And, again, it says nothing about Jesus' atoning death being for our physical afflications and therefore does not prove your case. I cannot emphasize enough that the gospel message is not that Christ died to make us physically whole. He died on the cross for our sins, our Sins, our SINS! It is God's power for our SALVATION from SIN, not our escape from the thorns of the flesh! Look at what Paul said in Romans 1:16: "For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for SALVATION [he does not say for physical healing] to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek." Nowhere in Scripture does it suggest that salvation from sin and healing from physcial ailments are tied together in a neat package deal. Other users on this thread -- Kalos, DocTrinesograce, CDBJ, EdB -- have responded to you with sound biblical teaching. You seem only to want to continue to argue your views in spite of their efforts to show you what Scripture actually teaches. I see no need to continue to argue these points with you, Janae. I will not compromise on what the Bible teaches in order to placate you. ....... For the life of me I can't understand why there is so much emphasis being placed on physical healing these days and so little on the preaching of the gospel of Christ. The message of the gospel is about saving souls from eternal hell not healing temporal bodies. Instead of healing circuses that Benny Hinn and those of his stripe conduct, the world needs genuine gospel messages such as those that Apostles Paul and Peter, and Charles Spurgeon and Jonathan Edwards preached! People need to be told that they are on their way to hell if they do not believe in Christ, not that they will be physcially healed if they do. --Hank |
