1 | claiming things in your life | Is 53:5 | Praise Be To God | 136341
Here is a direct quote from the Assemblies of God position paper: The Assemblies of God constitution in its Statement of Fundamental Truths, section 12, states: "Divine healing is an integral part of the gospel. Deliverance from sickness is provided for in the atonement, and is the privilege of all believers (Isaiah 53:4,5; Matthew 8:16,17; James 5:14—16)." I rest my case. Janae. |

Janae Notice the use of Matthew 8:16,17. Jesus accomplished this before the cross, before He was strickened, before He was lashed, before He was striped. It is referring to verse Isaiah 53:4 which has nothing to do with the cross and atonement but is a desciption of Jesus our Great Physican. Look at James 5:14-15 it is telling us what to do if we are sick, it says nothing about healing in the atonement only that healing is available. That has been the case since God created man. God Himself said He was the Lord our healer, Exodus 15:26; Exodus 23:25; Deut. 32:39; Psalm 41:3, 4; Psalm 103:3; Psalm 147:3 Now look what the AG actually says here (I'm AG by the way and know this was carefully worded) it doesn't say physical healing for the present age is provided for in the atonement. If you notice what they say is, "divine healing is provided for in the atonement" and I have always agreed to that. One day we will all be healed our afflictions. God is our healer, our Great Physician. Again if healing was in the atonement then everyone that came to Christ as Lord would also be healed and that simple is not the case in this present age. However one day it will be. So while you may like "claiming" you healing you claiming something may or may not have been given to you. EdB |

I believe in claiming things I believe its an act of faith and that your expecting God to do something wonderful for you and your believing it before it happens. I had ok credit and I went to the lexus dealership and put my hands on the lexus suv I liked and the color I wanted with features touched that back of the vehicle and said in Jesus name a few months later I traded my vehicle in and got a lexus suv. And buy the way I was twenty one when God perform this miracle I believe in claiming things You have not because you ask not Jesus also said that if you have the faith of a mustard seed you can move mountains If you can believe God for anything that is exactly what he will do for you.

Hi Sam, Well, you're advocating the "name-it-and-claim-it" WOF heresy, my friend. It is not in any way, shape , or form the entirety of the teaching of scripture. This is basically a 20th and 21st Century, American Christian philosophy that only mirrors the affluence we have as a society. I seriously challenge that your rendition of James 4:2 is correct. So, you don't have to work, by sweat, put in any time or effort? Just "claim it" and God as our magical genie, Vending machine will give it to us? Please... How about Psalm 46:10 and Job 1:9? Can we just be still and know that He is God and seek Him for who He is alone? That too takes quite a bit of faith! Thats my take. BradK |
