Janae As a matter of fact I don't believe in "once saved always saved." But that is not the point of my last post to you. If as you say "healing is in the atonement" and not just provided for as I say, there is a question as to why everyone that gets saved doesn't also get healed. I say the healing is a gift of God and we should ask for it and if it be God's will then it will be manifested. If not I know in eternity I will be healed and live sickness free. Remember God offered sickness free livingi to the children of Israel before the cross Deut 8:13-15. And apparently natural man in the New Heaven and New Earth will still require the leaves of the tree of life to live to sickness free. Rev. 22:2 The only point I'm trying to make here is the problem with trying to connect physical healing today with the cross. Healing is provided for in the new covenant it is called a gift, but it wasn't promised in the atonement. That is the point everyone is trying to make here, by saying helaing is provided in the atonement is adding to scripture. Scripture clearly says healing is valid and should be something we seek. But scripture does not say it is a condition of the atonement and guaranteed. |

I apologize for lumping everybody in together and thinking you all believe "once saved, always saved." You say healing is a gift. Salvation is a gift, too. Sickness and disease are consequences of the fall. The provision of Christ's atonement was complete and adequate for redeeming the whole person--spirit, soul, and body. I do not see how claiming physical healing was provided for at the Cross is adding to scripture. Please explain. Thank you. Janae. |

Janae You said, "I do not see how claiming physical healing was provided for at the Cross is adding to scripture. Please explain." Can you show me anywhere in the scripture that says physical healing for this generation is provided in the cross? The healing of the cross is the promise of no more death no more tears of Rev 21:4. Again healing is described as a gift in I Cor 12:9. James said if there is any sick among you, you should call for the elders and they should anoint you and prayer of faith will restore you. James 5:13. Notice it doesn't say claim your healing. Now I'm not minimizing faith or the need for faith, nor am I minimizing a positive attitude or the need for it. Nor am I minimizing the work of the cross or our potential to receive healing. I'm simply stating that it is a fact that Is 53:5 is talking about spiritual healing, that God does heal but that there is no guarantee that if we trust in Christ we will receive both physical healing in this present age and salvation. If physical healing for generation was promised in the atonement then every one that came to Christ would receive healing. There is no scripture that says we receive part of what is provided for in the atonement. We get it all. And guaranteed physical healing for this generation isn’t part of the all. Now before you respond any further, provide scripture that clearly states physical healing is provided for in the atonement. EdB |

(1)Isaiah 53:4, 5; Matthew 8:16,17 and James 5:14-16, show that physical healing for ANY generation is provided at the cross. I was prayed for and God healed me--I didn't just "claim" I was healed. Claiming my healing means that I hold onto my healing and don't let Satan take it from me. A lot of times when people are healed, Satan will come and try to tell you that you are not healed, but by "claiming" your healing, you hold onto it and don't let Satan take it away from you. | ||||||

Janae Nobody and especially not me are disputing the fact you were healed, or that healing isn't available today. The fact I'm disputing is healing was tied to the cross. However healing was available before and after the cross. Our physical healing in this age is not tied to the cross. And no scripture ties it to the cross. EdB |

It is not just opinion it is a fact. Nothing in the scripture states physical healing for the present age was accomplished at the cross. To say otherwise is adding to scripture. EdB |
