Bible Question: If some people are chosen for salvation and some are chosen for hell how come the Bible says that God didn't make hell for people but only for satan and his angels, and how come we seem to be able to choose to sin even after we are saved. This would seem to go against God's will for His children. any help on this one would be much appreciated. |
Bible Answer: If we are sinning, we are the angels of Satan. Scripture tells us that Jesus told the Pharesees that they belonged to their father the Devil. The Pharesees were sinning because they had taken God's laws and commands and twisted them to suit their own ideals. 1John 3:8 says, He who commits sin is of the Devil; for the Devil has sinned from the beginning. The choice to sin does not have its source in the Holy Spirit. If we are taking our own willed decisions to sin then the question of do we have free will is answered. The real question should have been should we have free will. To be saved by grace through faith is determined by our obedience to God's way to receive salvation. The giving of grace, which I believe is the giving of the Spirit to live within us, evidences the love of God for us, and his love for others by our fruits of the Spirit. We cannot bring any of the fruits of the Spirit to bear through our own willed wisdom. These must be implemented by the Spirit who dwells within us, who knows the mind of the Father. Jesus said it all at Gethsemene when he called out to the Father, not my will, but thine be done. |
