Bible Question: If some people are chosen for salvation and some are chosen for hell how come the Bible says that God didn't make hell for people but only for satan and his angels, and how come we seem to be able to choose to sin even after we are saved. This would seem to go against God's will for His children. any help on this one would be much appreciated. |
Bible Answer: Does free will exixt in the sense that we, of ourselves, choose to follow God? The answer to this is, I believe, no. We, of ourselves will never choosse to follow God. We can't. We love Him because He loved us and gave Himself for us, and for this reason only. We, as humans, in our depraved state are enemies of God. We are in the darkness, and as John 3:19 says, "men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds are evil." (NKJV) The only reason we will come to Him is if he calls us to Himself. To say that we will seek God through our own free will is like saying that a criminal will seek out the police. It just isn't going to happen. So, does free will exist? Sure, but we will always choose not to follow God, because we by nature are at emnity with Him. |
