Subject: do we have any free will? |
Bible Note: Dino "Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?" that is, "My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?" (Matthew 27:46) is a referral back to Psalm 22. Psalm 22 portrays the suffering Messiah the Jews refused to see. Jesus was once more in compassion (grace) giving one last teaching on who He was. He was saying, “guys can't you see this is exactly what the Psalmist and prophets have been talking about?” Somehow that got turned around that God had forsaken Him. Does God forsake you when you were in sin? No! He sent His only Son so you could be delivered from sin. Did God forsake David when David sinned with Bathsheba? No! He sent the prophet Nathan to call him into correction. Why do we want to believe he forsook His Son? Because we didn't see/understand the connection between Psalm 22 and what Jesus said. Also there is a the teaching God can’t see sin. Satan the personification of sin goes into God's presence to accuse us. That is why our mediator Jesus sits at God's right hand to make intercession for us. God and Jesus are one, for one to be separated from the other, would be for one to be separated from itself. Jesus died physically and this is what the scriptures refer. Never has one died and brought HIMSELF back to life. He returned from the death by His own power thus proving once and for all who had power of death. Your right you did not say anything about a wrestling match, and for that I apologize. That is what I read (read into) the website you had referenced. Please accept my most humble apology, but that website is still theological junk. EdB |
