Is this Arminianism? If it is, it is well written. Hogwash, but well written! It robs God of the glory of His salvation. It tells me that the atonement does not save, but at least it is "available." Available but ineffective to save. It tells me that the poor, helpless, dead sinner must somehow someway find it within his pathetic self to do the one thing he must do, but cannot--repent. And that God can only "incline" him. Praise God! He makes the dead alive! Praise God! He grants repentance! Praise God! He is the author and finisher of our faith! Peace, Lionstrong |

Lionstrong; Rather than get into a heated debate with you on this subject, because God has called us to peace, I will leave off this subject with you. I have posted scripture ONLY, in a reply to etta, and you said my view was unBibical. Now I have posted the comments of Mr. A.W. Tozer, a man most of the Evangelical Christian world considered a godly man, who went home to be with the Lord in 1963. But even this man of the faith's words you have called Arminian hogwash. So if Scripture is unBibical to you, and great men of the faith are considered inferior to your thinking then my appeal on this subject has come to a halt] In Christ zach† |

Of course, you implied that Charles Spurgeon was an inconsistent fence-sitter... :) --Joe! |

Oh, I am not offended! You have every right to disagree with me and Spurgeon and Jonathan Edwards and John Piper and John Calvin and John Knox and R.C. Sproul and Augustine and everyone else who shares my view. I merely wanted to point out that one's disagreement with certain points of A.W. Tozer's theology does not make one a rabid, raving heretic. I just think you were a little hasty in lunging at Lionstrong for criticizing the teachings of one of your favorite writers and preachers. We are not talking about someone attacking 1 Corinthians or anything like that! Since at least the 1600s we have had two camps within Protestantism on the issues of election and effectual calling. There are scholars to this day who stand on either side of this issue, and everyone is going to disagree with someone that another person holds as a well-reasoned individual. --Joe! |
