1 | Can one who commits suicide be saved? | Ex 20:13 | Deddier | 513
Suppose life gets too unbearable for a fragile human being to continue on, either thru depression or terminal illness. Not everyone is mentally or physically strong to carry their burdens. They know of Christ and may be a believer, but they simply have lost the will to live. God knows the heart of the human, and perhaps someone who is contemplating suicide asks God ahead of time for forgiveness. I think they can be forgiven and will be.
2 | Can one who commits suicide be saved? | Ex 20:13 | HeirofGod | 588
Life can't get to unbearable for a christian but for a sinner I can believe that. I Peter 5:7 says for us to cast all our care upon him, so none of us are mentally or physically strong enough to carry our burdens, yet because Jesus is carrying them we survive. It is true God knows the heart of a human but for the person who commits suicide death is in thier hearts. Look at Judas Iscariot, he betrayed Jesus, was convicted in his heart and could not bear to live any longer. He hung himself. I believe he had a chance to ask for forgiveness and probably did before he killed himself; Do you think he was forgiven? No he wasn't because John 17:12 says that none of the people that GOd gave Jesus was lost(unsaved) but the son of perdition-Judas. So you see Judas was lost meaning there was no forgiveness for him. He wasn't lost because he betrayed Jesus, he was lost because he hung himself.
3 | Suicide, lost? | Ex 20:13 | Hugger | 2828
I just discovered this thread on suicide. I would like to share my view of what the Word says. Judas was not lost because of suicide but because he was not a believer to begin with. Jesus didn't "lose" anyone that the Father gave to him. Judas was there to fulfill scripture. Look at John 13:18. Also, we can know Judas was not a believer because Satan entered into him (John 13:27) and anyone who belongs to the Lord cannot be possessed by Satan. I know this will probably open up another dialog for discussion :) Love In Christ, Hugger P.S. No one is lost by any one sin but by not accepting Christ into their hearts. Blessings :)
4 | Suicide, lost? | Ex 20:13 | reformedreader | 2836
Hugger, Your post on the security of the believer is a very biblically based view. I can only disagree with your last comment, "No one is lost by any one sin but by not accepting Christ into their hearts". We are all born into this world in the image of Adam and no act of sin is required by any of us in order to be condemned justly by God. We are all condemned because we are all in unbelief (naturally). Sam Hughey |
