Bible Question:
Greetings Good Samaritan! Thanks for the response! I still do not believe that Scripture teaches that people can accept or reject Christ after death. This seems to be what you are saying! If I have misunderstood you please let me know! The evidence from Scripture seems very strong that a persons "fate" is set at death. Consider the following evidence. 1) Heb. 9:27 says, "Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment," 2) The thief on the cross was told by Jesus "I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise." (Luke 23:43). 3) Paul said that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord - Phil. 1:23 and 2 Cor. 5:8. 4) Finally, in the story of Lazarus and the Rich Man (Luke 16:19-31), the rich man desperately wanted relief from his suffering but was told, "And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been fixed, so that those who want to go from here to you cannot, nor can anyone cross over from there to us.’" This would definitely indicate that upon death, a person's eternal destiny is sealed. Bible Answer: I agree totally brother Tim. I wasn't saying in my answer (which started this counter discussion) that the body and spirit where equal. For the unbeliever at the point of natural death he is damed forever. For a believer at the point of natural death he is instantly present with the Lord forever. Then all believers after the Rapture are judged according to their works, but they are still with God. Jesus died the spiritual death because of the sin that was on him and then he conquered it because of the spirit that was in him. He went to hell to "drop off" the sin which was on him. When I say that I mean that he had conquered every sickness and sin and disease known and unknown to man. Sickness and disease come from Satan. I will say that it is untrue to say that you can receive for forgiveness after natural and spiritual death. But for the believer, natural and spiritual death have been conquered. On another note, God gave me a revelation experience with the other subject we were talking about with Benny Hinn and the demon cities and you were right. I thank God for you and hope we can continue our discussions. In Christ, Kimberly |
