Subject: Can one who commits suicide be saved? |
Bible Note: You talk about having a "balance" of scripture, but you are so hung up on repentence and repentence alone. You make yourself sound as if you do not sin anymore, if that is so, congratulations! I am a paramedic, I have responded to several calls for suicide attempts. I have seen people who have shot themselves, stabbed themselves, cut themselves, taken pills and so on. For your information not all people who commit suicide die right away, so does that mean that if they repent just before they die that God will forgive it then? So then Suicide is pardonable. But since there is no scripture that says that suicide is unpardonable, then if we die with any sin that we have not repented of we will go to Hell. I find that statement inaccurate. What hope can I give my patients? Are you telling me that it is futile to tell these patients about Jesus, to show them his word. Jesus told me to go and tell everyone about Him, not just those who have not sinned. God has forgiven all of my sins, past present and future. We repent to agree with God that what we have done is wrong. Does that mean if we say that we repent, but end up doing the same sin, that we are not saved? If that is true, then I would make a claim that no one is saved, none of us, none of the early Christians, none of the Apostles, no one. Because if we repented and every single time never committed that sin again, there would be perfect people walking the earth right now! Christians are not above experiencing depression, depression is very lethal. Christians are not above dementia, or psychotic episodes. Christians are not above non Christians. God does not tell us that sin must be forgiven unless we have an ailment that caused us to sin, then we are granted an implied pardon. Sin is sin. We are not "better" than those who are not saved. We are just like them, only Jesus is different. You said to "do what your heart tells you to do." Well if your heart tells you to kill all the babies, why would you do that? We should do what God tells us to do. I am by no means perfect, and yes I still do sin. God has changed me, I am very much different from my old self. My flesh retains a lot of my old habits, and it is taking time to learn new habits. I am learning to be obedient in serving my Master. Christianity is about accepting Jesus, not about works, we are saved by grace. Grace is a gift, given, not earned. I don't know it all, I don't even pretend to know it all. But I do know that Jesus has paid my wage to get in Heaven. I have accepted that, and do accept it every single day! I will see you in Heaven someday, maybe we will sit next to each other at the Marriage Supper of the Lamb! Duolos |
