Subject: Can one who commits suicide be saved? |
Bible Note: Pam I did not mean to place any condemnation upon you. God knows your intent. The thread has been restricted which means the unless you know the thread is there and go look for it you will not see it. This thread has not been the first nor I imagine the last that will argue that a person committing suicide will go to heaven. I do not know the answer to question but I do know I have talked to potential suicide victims that have confided in me that the only factor that has kept them from suicide is the fear of eternal damnation. I know there are those that make a point of saying well if asked I have to be truthful and answer by what is in the Bible. We aren't to lie but instead of answering a potentially destructive questions with what we believe is cold hard truth we could see if we can get to the root of the problem. Who knows the motive for the question but before we start okaying destructive behavior we probably should attempt to find out. Maybe a better answer would be, why does such an issue concern you? Or why do you think a Christian would consider suicide? Or do you think it is possible a Christian in right relationship with Jesus would commit suicide? All these questions are valid and all make the person stop and think about the ramifications of their actions. My answer to families that experience suicide is that our God Who is loving, wise and just will deal with the suicide and everything the lead up to it in way that will be loving and just. That if their loved one was saved before the suicide I will say something like, something must have happened mentally that effected their judgement and their ability to make Christian decisions, I’m sure God will take that into consideration. If they are unsaved I will say none of us know what went through their minds and hearts that last instance of life, in that instant they could have called upon Christ. We are to give hope and be encouragers and measure everything we say not to become enablers. Many people are just waiting for our okay to make destructive decisions in life. Pam rest easy and don't worry about this thread. As I said this issue has been discussed many times and exactly the same points have been made. God loves you and so do we be blessed EdB |
