Bible Note: You talk of being "free from torment" if one is "in Christ." I find that to be inaccurate, unless the Apostle Paul was not "in Christ." 2 Corinthians 12:7 says "because of the passing greatness of the revelations, for this reason, to keep me from exaulting myself, there was given me a thorn in the flesh, a messengar of Satan to torment me--to keep me from exaulting myslef!" (NASB). I would go out on a limb and say that the Apostle Paul was a Christ follower, and that he will spend eternity with Christ in Heaven, even though he was tormented while being a Christ follower. Just because we are in Christ does not meen that we will have a perfect life, free of hardship, on the contrary Jesus specifically told us that we would be persecuted because of following him (Matt. 5:10,11) |
