Bible Note: Perhaps, RAVEN, I am blind. Perhaps I am blind simply because I refuse to accept the false teachings I hear every day, yours and others. Perhaps I am blind because I believe that we are saved by grace alone through faith alone in Jesus Christ alone. Perhaps I am blind because I believe that our righteousness is as filty rags before our Holy God. Blind because I accept the redemptive work of Jesus Christ on the cross as being alone sufficient and complete, needing no boost from us through works or water. Blind because I refuse to be led by the blind. Blind because I refuse to accept the ridiculous idea that you and your stripe who belong to the sect called 'The Church of Christ' consider yourselves the one and only New Testament Church, when the unvarnished fact is that you are unable to produce an iota of credible witness to support your claim. Just about anybody can crank up a new sect and call it The True Church. It takes no real brains to do that. It does take a certain amount of sense to be able to exegete the word of God properly, and most of us have been endowed by our Creator with sense if we have sense enough to use it! ..... If you are not too busy trying to find yet another isolated verse somewhere in Scripture that you can bend to prove some doctrinal point -- while ignoring others, by the way, that refute your views -- you might try saturating yourself with Jesus' prayer for unity in John 17. I see the Church of Christ as being more concerned with shoving their brand of denominationalism down people's throats than with the unity of the body of Christ. Unity to you and your group apparently means conformity to your views. Well, so be it. But you may not be aware that many of us have found that we can follow the teachings of our Lord WITHOUT conforming to the teachings of the Church of Christ. --Hank |
