Bible Note: Emmaus, thanks for your response. While I've been engaged in other pursuits, Joe has posted a response to yours and I must say that both of you gentlemen did a fine job. Thus, I won't respond specifically to your post, Emmaus, because Joe and I hold essentially identical views on the role of baptism in the Christian experience; and he did a typically fine job in his post. I will make merely a brief observation and bow out for now, that observation being that Catholics and Protestants appear united on baptism in that no one really seems to be against it, but different traditions are for it, but for different reasons! So perhaps we could say we've achieved sort of a divided unity, but not really enough to boast about :-) Well, Jesus is Lord -- no question there among Christians [I hope, I hope] --Hank P.S., Emmaus, like Joe, I have prayed and continue to pray for your church as it strives to weather the storm and deal with the issues with which it is faced. |
