Bible Note: Hi, Steve. Enjoyed your post. I heartily share the problem you have with this "name it and claim it" heresy. I'm sure you, being Presbyterian, subscribe to the doctrine of the sovereignity of Almighty God, as I do. [After all, I was PCUSA for 35 years!]. What right does mortal and sinful man have to "name and claim" anything of God? We should be both mightily grateful and eternally thankful that God chose us by His grace to be saved. The idea of playing Oliver Twist and asking for "more" is preposterous. This "name it and claim it" stuff not only has no foundation in Scripture, but it even smacks of being in the same league with Jesus' rebuke of the tempter in Matthew 4:7: "You shall not put the Lord your God to the test."
