Subject: Is God's will prosperity/healing always? |
Bible Note: Graceful Please read this not as an attack but rather, I pray, as effort to help to you. The reason it is called the Health and Wealth gospel is that the premise of it is basically wrong. The teaching has been labeled cultic or false by every major denomination and organization. The Assemblies of God went as far as writing a white paper detailing the error in the teaching. Organizations that are involved in Biblical or Christian apologetics have labeled it either false or cultic. It flies in the face of traditional Christianity, if flies in the face of early Christians that lived in poverty died wretched deaths in an effort to preserve and protect Christianity. It flies in the face of Jesus’ teaching especially Matt 19:16-26. It flies in the face of reality. All of us unless the rapture comes first are going to die from some disease. Is this to say I deny healing? Absolutely no! Healing is very much a part of the New Covenant and we must have faith to obtain it 1 John 5:14 . Is it guaranteed? No it is according to the sovereign will of God Romans 8:28 Ephes. 1:11 Should we seek it? Yes James 5:14 clearly teaches us to seek healing. Does the word promise us riches? No it promises us God will provision us Phil 4:19 and cautions us in Romans 13:14 to put away all the lust of the flesh. See the disagreement with the health and wealth teaching is more than a disagreement with something we don’t believe in. It is a disagreement with something that Bible teaches is wrong. We are to be seeking Jesus not health or wealth of anything this world has to offer. We are to be like Abraham seeking a better place that it a heavenly home. Hebrew 11:13-16 Written with the hope that eyes will be opened. EdB |
