Subject: Is God's will prosperity/healing always? |
Bible Note: gracefull I agree there are many in Haiti that may hunger for the prosperity message, every human wants to be prosperous. And to be told they can do it is exciting and tickling their ears. The fact remains there isn't enough money in Haiti to enable every Christian in Haiti to be rich, nor in the Sudan, Ethiopia, or hundreds other countries where faithful Christians live struggle and die not longing for earthly riches but rather heavenly treasure. This message will only preach in America where compared to the rest of the world we are filthy rich and so self centered we want to hear more of what God “owes” us rather than what we should be doing to serve the Lord. If this is a true intent of God why didn’t Paul simply preach the prosperity gospel in Jerusalem instead of going church to church taking up offerings for the saints in Jerusalem? Christians have got to get their eyes off this earthly existence and on to their eternal existence. We are pilgrims, aliens here, this is not our home, we have a better place where in fact we will be rich. God’s message is not become a Christian and get rich. The message is service and love to others drawing them near and telling them of our hope. And maybe even building more cost effective churches instead of many times spending the total budget of all the Christians combined total budget in other nations in one year. EdB |
