Bible Question: Will some please address this verse in rom. 6:4 When does newness of life start? |
Bible Answer: Life begins at baptism. We are dead until we are born of the Spirit through baptism. Read all of John 3. Notice Nicodemus came to Jesus and said we know who you are. They knew he was the Christ by the signs that followed him. But even though Nicodemus knew who he was he asked this question, "What must I do to enter he kingom of God?" Jesus said, you must be born again. Nicodemus aske how and Jesus said that which is born of the flesh is flesh (physical birth) and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. He said unless one is born of the water and the Spirt he canot enter the kingdom of God. Whether we are Jew or gentile we are born into a world of sin (breaking the law of God which is the "Ten Commandments". We need to cofess that we have sinned and broke God's commandments, that's why we need a saviour because the punishment for sin (breaking the law) is death (seperation from God eternally.) Now God the Father sent his Son Jesus Christ to die that we may have life eternal in Him. When we are baptized we are dying to our old self and also confessing Jesus before men. Look at all the examples in Acts starting with Pentecost. Notice the three thousand that believed were baptized that day and added to the number. continue to read through the book of Acts and you will realize everyone who believed was baptized immediately and so should we be. |
