NASB | Romans 6:4 Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Romans 6:4 We have therefore been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory and power of the Father, we too might walk habitually in newness of life [abandoning our old ways]. |
Subject: What if you don't obey that command? |
Bible Note: Where, in the following verses that you have cited, does it say that believers were baptized in the same HOUR that they believed and had faith in Jesus Christ after receiving the Gospel message? Acts 2:41 "So those who welcomed his message were baptized, and that day about 3,000 persons were added to them." [ISV] Acts 8:12-13 "But when Philip proclaimed the good news of the kingdom of God and of the name of Jesus Christ, men and women believed and were baptized. Even Simon believed, and after he was baptized he became devoted to Philip. He was amazed to see the signs and great miracles that were happening." [ISV] Acts 8:38 "So he ordered the chariot to stop, and Philip and the eunuch both went down into the water, and Philip baptized him." [ISV] Acts 9:18 "All at once something like scales fell from his eyes, and he could see again. He got up and was baptized," [ISV] Acts 10:48 "So he ordered them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked him to stay for several days." [ISV] Acts 16:33 "At that hour of the night he took them and washed their wounds. Then he and his entire family were baptized immediately." [ISV] Acts 19:5 "On hearing this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus." [ISV] The only possible argument for your case, in the verses that you have cited, is in Acts 16:33, where the jailer washed the wounds of Paul and Silas. And then, Paul and Silas baptized the jailer and his household immediately. If "immediately" means that Paul and Silas baptized the jailer and his household immediately after being washed by them, which happened AFTER they shared the message of Jesus Christ with them, then yes, it is quite possible that all of that may have occurred in one single hour, however unlikely that might be... But you still have no concrete Scriptural proof that supports your theory that everyone in the New Testament was baptized by water in the SAME HOUR that they received or believed in Jesus Christ. Scripture quotations were taken from the International Standard Version [ISV]. Blessings to you, Makarios |
