Bible Note: Greetings the Bible is Right! Can those who have not been baptized walk in newness of life? Yes! Can those who have not been saved walk in newness of life? No! However, notice that even those who have been 'buried with Christ' can still not walk in newness of life - which is the reason for this passage of Scripture. Believers are being commanded to live out their salvation and no longer be slaves to sin. The important point for this discussion is what does the Bible say saves us. Consider the following: 1) Acts 2:21 - "And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’" 2) Acts 16:30 - "He then brought them out and asked, ‘‘Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” 31 They replied, ‘‘Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household.”" 3) Rom. 10:9 - "That if you confess with your mouth, ‘‘Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved." 4) Rom. 10:13 - "for, ‘‘Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”" 5) Eph. 2:5 - " made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved." 6) Eph. 2:8 - "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast." 7) 2 Tim. 1:9 - "who has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time," 8) Heb. 10:39 - "But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who believe and are saved." The reason I keep posting on this topic is because I want to make sure that everyone who reads these posts on this forum know that there is nothing that we can do nor nothing that we must do to be saved except to believe. Christ accomplished it all for us on the cross. My salvation, nor my walk in Christ, are dependent upon my efforts or my works, but entirely upon Christ's work on the cross. This is the good news of the Gospel. Yet, there are still many, who like the Judaizers, want to add works to our salvation. Eph. 2:8-9, Rom. 4, Gal. 2, and many more, are all perfectly clear that we do not need to do anything to be saved. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
