Question I would like to ask...when was the thief forgiven? Before or after Christ's death? If it was BEFORE...then how is it that forgiveness of the thief applies to us who live AFTER Christ's death? Through HIM, TOFT |

This is the point I have been trying to make with others, they always ask what about the thief on the cross? The fact is Jesus was not dead when he forgave the thief. Heb.9:15-17 after you read this you will understand that the thief did not have the chance you and I have because the new testament was not in forced when Jesus spoke to the thief, so when you refer to the thief's being saved by Jesus is because the "Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins" Matt 9:6, but everybody after the resurrection must obey Mark 16:16! | ||||||

You can keep posting this all you want, but that still does not change the reality expressed in Galatians 3:15-17 which says that no conditions have ever been added to the covenant of salvation which God established with Abraham. Baptism was not required for Abraham's justification; neither was the Law. The same holds true for today, because the covenant by which Abraham was declared righteous is the same covenant by which all who believe in Jesus Christ alone for salvation are declared righteous. It is very simple: 1. You say that baptism is a condition for our justification. 2. Galatians 3 teaches that NO conditions can be added to the covenant once it is ratified. 3. Baptism was not a condition for Abraham. 4. Therefore, baptism is not a condition for us. All you "Church of Christ" people have done is ignore God's clear revelation that I have posted here a half-dozen times. No response? --Joe! |

My dear friend Joe, You are not and never will be the authority on what the bible teaches, before someone taught you to ignore what the Lord told you to do in Mark 16:16, did you believe like you do now? Every time you read that text, do you read it with contempt? It will still say " HE THAT BELIEVETH AND IS BAPTIZED SHALL BE (SAVED) HE THAT BELIEVETH NOT SHALL BE CONDEMED". |

I would like to add another thought to Mark 16:16...which part of the verse tells us how to be saved? Which part tells us what will condemn us? Now we are discussing whether or not baptism saves right? Which part should we look to, to see if it saves us? It is very simple, it says AND...it's a VERY clear verse...just read it. You all still remind me of Naaman...except he humbled himself and did the will of God. Through HIM, TOFT |
