Dear Raven: If you are willing to dialogue this, and I do so with respect for you, I would ask some thing further. No disrespect or stirring of emotions involved, ok? In Acts 16:29-34. In this case the Prison jailer was told to Believe and you shall be saved. With no hesitation the Jailer and his family were baptized. So I can see your point. I have no problem with baptism being proof of the fact you have repented and are now saved. In fact when ever someone refuses to, then that is evidence that salvation has not really happened. Would we be together so far? The only issue I question is the final judge is of course is Jesus Christ. Right? As scripture says my ways are not His ways. I in no way I want you to think I see baptism as anything less than a required commitment that is instructed by The Lord to do. However I am willing to share Christ with some one who is quite near death and let the Lord make the judgement call on if that person is welcome or is to be departed to eternal punishment. For me, I believe my responsibility is to plant the seed. The growth is up to that person, and if I can assist them in growing that's good too. We may not be as far off as you think. I personally allow God to show mercy to whomever He so desires. God knows I surely do not deserve Salvation, I am unworthy! I walk by faith not by sight. Perhaps it is the aspect of allowing God to judge these situations is where I believe slightly from you. What do you honestly think? agape, justme |

Hello Justme, I will try to answer with grace and love as I have been instructed by the Lockman Foundation. It seems my answers that I give directly from the bible have offended someone and I have been put on notice. You wrote:I have no problem with baptism being proof of the fact you have repented and are now saved. In fact when ever someone refuses to, then that is evidence that salvation has not really happened. Would we be together so far? I sense that you have a very open mind and are truley wanting to learn about what I am speaking. Lets look at Acts 2:38. I know tired old Acts 2:38. But since its in the bible we have to address it. Acts 2 38Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. After reading this one must keep in mind the question from Acts 2:37. "What must we do to be saved?" Remember it says that these men that Peter preached to were "devout men, from every nation under heaven." Acts 2:5 And after being preached to "they were cut to the heart". Acts 2:37 They belived! They had faith! They knew Jesus was the Christ, but still they ask "Men and brethren, what shall we do?" And Peter told them. The "for" in the verse is the pivitol point in the verse where many jump ship. They were told to "do" something to receive something. For the remission of sins. Its the same way everyday of our lives, we work for pay for example. We don't get paid if we don't work. So I would have to say that we are not in agreement yet. You see baptism is not done because a person has been saved, its done to be saved. You wrote:The only issue I question is the final judge is of course is Jesus Christ. Right? Yes, we agree. You wrote:However I am willing to share Christ with some one who is quite near death and let the Lord make the judgement call on if that person is welcome or is to be departed to eternal punishment. A person has their entire life to obey the gospel. Jesus has set forth in his commands how we are to contact that saving grace. If we refuse to do that, He will refuse us. I was told a story about a man that was drowning and a man cast him a rope but the man refused to grab it. The people ask why did he drown? The man answered because he wouldn't grab the rope. Wrong, he would have drown even if there were no rope. Its the same way with sin, people are in sin and they gospel has to accepted. You wrote:I personally allow God to show mercy to whomever He so desires. God shows His grace and mercy to every one who opens up and reads the bible. The bible itself is the grace of God. 2 Peter 3 9The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us,[1] not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. I hope this has helped :). Raven |

Dear Raven: I was not the complainer. I always pray more, and ask for patients in dealing with what God has allowed to enter my life. Be it the Forum or in the non cyber world which I really do live. I wish you would put some information about your self in the user info. You have been active for some time now. However that is your call. I actually have an open heart, so I can reach out to others, whom I consider a fellow christian. My face, hair, and body show the years, but my mind is always growing in the Word. In reviewing your notes and answers, I see you as peson that views the Word with yes or no answers. Sort of good or bad, right or wrong, black or white. Raven, I see all these things as well. I have no problem with black or white, right or wrong. What I have come to see much of life is not that clear cut. The gray areas, the situation ethics of the worlds, and christian thought. I See some things the Bible is silent on. I do not believe that even under the most uncertian circumstances we are without some clues. Love, covers a bunch of sins. My version, same meaning. If we lack love and give up our life it is a waste. Perhaps that Love never fails, if my hope when there seems there is no hope. Raven, with love, kindness amd mercy we can have more of an impact in our answers and notes on others. Sometimes some may think you may not see these special God qualities inwhatyou write. Yes we need to be honest, truthfull and not water anything down. To repeat a old childrens song, A little bit of sugar helps the medicine go down. Have you ever read any of HANK in the forum? He has a wise way of saying some very direct answers. No one will agree with anyone 100 percent of the time. Why I don't evenagree with me sometimes! No one expects that we all will like each other. However God does expect us to love one another. Wow that hard! By the way what do you think Uriah had to say to David when they finally ment face to face in paridise? Oh boy! God has to do something to our temperment when we pass on to His presence! Well Raven, we all need to work on that temperment while we are here too. Maybe it will be an easier job for God latter. Ha Ha that's some justme humor. You are loved Raven! Reflect that mercy and love God has so generiously given you and me, as we try to share in this forum. That is my honest advice. Let your love be so great that people will be drawn to hear the GOOD NEWS of Jesus in you. May peace, mercy and love surrond you. agape, justme |
