Hello Justme, Thank you for your comments. I would like to make a point though about your suggestion. I myself am a member of the Church of Christ and would by no means approve of another church or organization being a guide to this young lady. Though she has every right to make up her own mind as to how she plans to spend the rest of her eternity I would prefer that she knew all the bible has to say instead of those organizations that pick and choose. That would be like throwing the sheep to the wolves. I ask you with your Baptist background would send someone to a different faith where they would learn a different belief system? Of course not. Please understand that I am not trying to be ugly about this with you, I just want you and the others that read this to know where I stand. Jesus said; Matthew 7 The Narrow Way (1) 13 "Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. 14Because[1] narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it. You Will Know Them by Their Fruits (2) 15 "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. If I ask you who was the founder of your church who would you say that would be? If you ask me I could only give one answer and that would be Jesus Christ because He said, "I will build My church". No denomination can say that truthfully, because all denomiations add or subtract from the bible according to the traditions of men. Mark 7 7And in vain they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men. The bible teaches that there is only one. Ephesians 4 4There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; 5one Lord, one faith, one baptism; 6one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you[1] all. This is something that many can read, but seem to overlook and dismiss it. They also overlook, 1 Corinthians 1:10 Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment. Galatians 1 Only One Gospel 6 I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, 7which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. 8But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed And lastly,Romans 16:17 Now I urge you, brethren, note those who cause divisions and offenses, contrary to the doctrine which you learned, and avoid them. 18For those who are such do not serve our Lord Jesus[1] Christ, but their own belly, and by smooth words and flattering speech deceive the hearts of the simple. Please try to research the things that I have said and set your feelings aside. Read what the bible says and do that, not what is contrary to the Word of God. I respect your viewpoint and I would hope that you will do the same for me. Your friend, Raven |

Raven, hello. Well, I'm one of those sheep who has been thrown to the wolves that inhabit the Southern Baptist Church! My parents were both of them loyal members of the Church of Christ and strict believers that theirs was THE Church and all other communions were merely man-made organizations having no more to do with being a church than an aardvark does with being a rocket scientist. Raven, in my user profile I state that I subscribe to the doctrine found in the 'Baptist Faith and Message.' It is available on-line at the Southern Baptist Convention web site. I challenge anyone to prove that this statement of faith has been, to use your terminology, added to or subtracted from the teaching of the Bible. The Baptist position, by the way, on other communions is not nearly so guarded as the Church of Christ position. That is to say, Baptists don't teach or believe that the Baptist Church holds the exclusive key to heaven or has squatter's rights on the truth of God's word. Salvation is by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone. Salvation is in Christ, not in church affiliaton... As for denominations, well we do have a bunch these days, but the differences among many of them are no more divisive or pronounced than were the differences that plagued the apostolic churches during the early beginnings of Christianity.... And by the way, the verses you cited in support of your position as a member of the Church of Christ, the Baptists also use in support of theirs! I'll end my post as you did yours: I respect your viewpoint and I would hope that you will do the same for me. --Hank | ||||||

Hello Hank, I would like to ask if you have ever looked thru the book or Romans? You said,"Salvation is by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone". I'll give you one out the three. But you see the other two can't hold water with scriptures like this; Romans 1 5Through Him we have received grace and apostleship for OBEDIENCE to the faith among all nations for His name, Romans 6 16Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one's slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of OBEDIENCE leading to righteousness? Romans 16 26but now made manifest, and by the prophetic Scriptures made known to all nations, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, for OBEDIENCE to the faith-- Matthew 7 Build on the Rock (1) 24 "Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, AND DOES THEM, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: 25and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. 26"But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and DOES NOT DO THEM, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: James 1 22But be DOERS OF THE WORD, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. 23For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; 24for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. 25But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty AND CONTINUES IN IT, and is not a forgetful hearer BUT A DOER OF THE WORK, this one will be blessed in what he does. James 2 Faith Without Works Is Dead (1) 14 What does it profit, my brethren, IF SOMEONE SAYS HE HAS FAITH BUT DOES NOT HAVE WORKS? CAN FAITH SAVE HIM? 15If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, 16and one of you says to them, "Depart in peace, be warmed and filled," but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? 17THUS ALSO FAITH BY ITSELF, IF IT DOES NOT HAVE WORKS, IS DEAD.18But someone will say, "You have faith, and I have works." Show me your faith without your[1] works, and I will show you my faith by my[2] works. 19You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe--and tremble! 20But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead?[3] 21Was not Abraham our father JUSTIFIED BY WORKS when he offered Isaac his son on the altar? 22DO YOU SEE THAT FAITH WAS WORKING TOGETHER WITH HIS WORKS, AND BY WORKS FAITH WAS MADE PERFECT? 23And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, "Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness."[4] And he was called the friend of God. 24You see then that a man is justified by works, AND NOT BY FAITH ONLY. 25Likewise, was not Rahab the harlot also JUSTIFIED BY WORKS when she received the messengers and sent them out another way? 26For as the body without the spirit is dead, so FAITH WITHOUT WORKS IS DEAD ALSO. Hank, why can you not read these few verses and and not know that faith only will not save anybody or anyone at anytime! Your friend, Raven |

First Justme, I would ask, who is Martin Luther? Are you speaking of the "man" that started the Lutherian church? John 3:16, tell me if you "believe" "trust" "love" someone, would you not believe all their teachings? To answer your last question, I cannot judge, but two questions will be ask about you when you die. Did you obey the gospel of Christ? And did you live the Christian life? If either of these are no then I am sorry for nothing more can be done for you. Your friend in Christ, Raven |

Dear Raven: Who is Raven, to be so self assured that you only can trust what you understand to be exact truth? Are you not a human with all the frailness of being humans. I preceieve you as not respecting any of the humans that God has used in such a mighty way. You criticism of other sheep in the Lords pen is very sharp. The body of Christ has more believers than just your church. Do you see that? Every human I have ever known has flaws and they sin l John 1:10. I wish you could disagree in a sweeter tone. Your responce to me yesterday wounded my heart deeply. I wonder if you see how just the tone of your notes can cut like a knife. Is this anyway to treat a sister or brither in the Lord? Think on this, pray and then write me a note. I will be in prayer about this as well. Justme |

I am nobody. Martin Luther was nobody. The God Almighty has finished the bible. There is no more to be added. All man can do now is read the bible and obey it. I am sorry that you feel I am harsh but I can only say what the bible says. You can not pour sugar on it and make it taste better. I will try to do better for you :) Raven |
