1 | Is God's will prosperity/healing always? | Rom 8:28 | inmyheart | 68297
Hank-- Why do you and your friend keep labeling me with The Word of Faith movement. I never heard of that before until you both introduced that title here on the forum. Also, all you see is that Paul suffered, you never mention the miracles he experienced. Now you tell me, what is God going to do for you, that He hasn't already done? I never mentioned once anywhere that we as christians walk a path paved with sweetness and light, although there is no darkness in Christ. I experienced sufferings, do you think for one moment that this is coming from God, and I should say "I'm suffering for God?" With all the promises of God you want me to let that lying devil have victory over my life! Would you be crystal clear on what I'm saying, if I said, I'm on my way to heaven, I hope I make it, this road is sure rough but I'll keep remembering all those who suffered before me. It was good enough for them, so it must be good enough for me, woe is me! Anyway back to our topic about paul's suffering; "Paul suffered beatings, shipwrecks, a stoning, sleepless nights, hunger, thirst, in cold and exposure [2 Cor.11:21-33]." In those days, they dug holes in the ground outside of the city. Whenever they were to stone someone, they would push the victim into the hole. Then, a crowd would gather around the hole and throw big rocks at the person's head, until they were certain that it was completely crushed. From biblical evidence, it seems that Paul was actually dead. The timing would be about 14 years before he was to write 2 Corinthians, which would make Acts 14 the time when he died and temporarily went to heaven to see the visions mentioned in 2 Corinthians 12:2-4. Then what happened? God raised Paul from the dead right on the spot and Paul marched right back into the same city! This is why Paul had an "infirmity of the flesh" – His skull had been crushed and he was walking around looking like that. So, instead of disproving the biblical teaching on healing, this passage in Galatians demonstrates God's supernatural healing and resurrection power. Paul was walking around supernaturally with this and many other injuries. I still have to explain the phrase "you would have plucked out your own eyes, and have given them to me" (v.15). From these words, people have concluded that Paul had an eye disease. This interpretation is both irresponsible and dishonest – it had extinguished many people's hope for receiving healing from God. "Would have plucked out your own eyes" is simply an expression! Just like a "thorn in the flesh" is an expression equivalent to a "pain in the neck." You want to know what Paul believed? He believed this: "But if the Spirit of him that raised Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you" (Romans 8:11). It happened to him time and time again. Now how bad can that be! |

2 | Is God's will prosperity/healing always? | Rom 8:28 | EdB | 68306
Inmyheart In this or one of the other threads either you or Graceful asked why I was so opposed to WOF. Let me explain. In WOF you are lead to believe if you have faith and a positive confession things will work out the way you want them too. This is good until something happens, then what? Well the WoF say oh you didn't have enough faith or you must have sinned. Now here is where I come in, I have had to go in and try to pick of the pieces of these people's lives when their positive confession, faith and almost constant confession of sin failed to keep their baby alive, their wife from dying from cancer or make their sick father well. And their WoF preachers have walked away blaming them. They are blaming themselves for not having enough faith, having sin in their lives or speaking the wrong things. They have nothing left to believe in since what they believed failed them. You see they believed God had to heal their loved one and THAT JUST DOESN’T ALWAYS HAPPEN. So there I sit holding them, crying with them and encouraging them. Telling them God is alive, God does care, that God is there for them, His strength is sufficient to see them through this and that even in this God will make it work out to their and their loved ones good. By God’s mercy each has made it through. I do this while some slick talker on TV is convincing another that all they have to do is send money, confess their heart desires and have faith and baby they will be in heaven on earth. After you have done this three or four times you soon develop a bad taste for name it and claim it, blab it and grab it, confess it and possess it WOF teaching. Incidentally those TV preachers don’t come to the funeral home, hospital bedside or to the nursing home to be with the people that are listening to their junk and supporting them. I hope this gives you some insight to the destruction WoF teaching plays in the hearts and lives of people when it fails to deliver all that it has promised. Praying for you. EdB |

EdB, Your story doesn't even come close to what is written in God's Word. |

Inmyheart At least not with what you think the Bible says. I mistakenly thought you would understand and appreciate the truths in that story, I evidently was very wrong. please forgive me for telling it. I truly pray what you believe is never tested, but if somewhere in the future it is, and it fails you, please try to remember God did NOT let you down what you believed to be the truth did. From your attitude I can tell nothing I can do or tell you will open your eyes to the truth. God bless and I pray God’s best in your life. EdB |

5 | Is God's will prosperity/healing always? | Rom 8:28 | inmyheart | 68417
EdB, Thanks, and I mean this in a positive way, my understanding is mutual. God has and never will let me down. We serve the One True God, He has bought me with a price, His Son Jesus, my Savior, given me a purpose and a distiny. God rewards our faith by providing that which we believe Him for. So many times Jesus has made statements such as "according to thy faith be it unto thee" and "Thy faith has made thee whole." He has made answered prayer conditional upon faith (Mark 11:22-24; James 1:5-7; 5:14-16) and doing His works (John 14:12). God in His sovereignty has decided that He will only reward those who will believe Him. Anyone who does not believe makes God a liar and that person cannot expect to receive from God (1 John 5:10). The Bible is full of example of those who limit God from working in their lives due to unbelief (Num. 13-14; Matt. 13:58; 17:20; Heb. 3-4). It has nothing to do with God's sovereign will to bless or not bless. God, in His sovereignty, has decided to respond to FAITH and will do so because He is Holy. This does not make Him man's servant as the critics want to imply. He still requires our obedience (which is what faith is), our worship, and our reverence. Word-Faith, by no means, has delegated the Almighty One to the level of a servant. Instead, we have recognized Him as our Father with whom we obey. God bless |

Inmyheart Notice the RED Notice to Viewers below. This thread is has been filtered because Lockman has found this defense of WOF deception distasteful. I will not respond to you anymore on this thread. While you might not think you have made God subservient to your will, that is in fact what you and all Word of Faith has done. By saying God is obligated or must, actually asserts your will over His. By praying your will instead of Thy will be done you have taken the position that you know best what should and must be done. By claiming God must perform to a stated set of circumstances you have limited God. None of these things are possible with the God I serve. Yes God is a rewarder of faith. And it is by faith we must approach God, and faith is pleasing to God. It is faith in God, that is being talked about. Not the faith that God will do what we have faith in. The God I serve has blessed me beyond measure, healed me of many things, and has given me the opportunity to serve him. He has preserved my family, blessed me with children and grandchildren. He has given me a wonderful and beautiful wife. Had me born to God fearing parent that loved and nurtured me in the way of the Lord. I didn’t have to have faith for any of these I only had to have Faith the in the God that said He would make all things work to my good because I loved Him and He has called me to His purpose. If you can’t see the difference between, having faith to trust God in all His ways and believing because of your Faith God has too do as you desire, you are truly blind. I pray your belief is never tested because when it is and it fails I fear what you will be left with. I have seen it oh to many times. Also notice you again define and defend WOF should we meet again in another thread please be honest enough not to express your feinted surprised at being a called a WOF God’s mercy upon you. EdB |
