Dear inmyheart, Greetings in the name of Jesus! As with most Christian methods or systems, it is not the teaching (in an absolute sense) that is dangerous, but the application. I say this because most teachings are based on the Bible, and desire to glorify God. Some methods invite abuse more than others, my friend. I am guessing that you have had relatively few sick days, and overcome many obstacles in your Christian walk. I, too, enjoy such favor with God. I have witnessed the miraculous healing of my wife from cervical cancer, and now have two beautiful daughters to prove it. I have overcome many addictions and afflictions, and by grace have been delivered many times from danger and perhaps even death. Glory be to God through His Son, Jesus Christ! We have been 'fortunate' or blessed. But what about those with a 'less-favorable' testimony? I have seen what the 'name-it-and-claim-it' people and 'faith-healing' crowd does with those that are not instantaneously victorious! They 'lack faith' or 'have hidden sin in their lives.' They 'harbor demons' or need to 'throw up the devil.' They are lower than pond scum, and don't deserve God's grace or even pity. Perhaps the group you associate with never does such things (?), but it is rampant! Another thing that is common is the constant NEED of deliverance. Like every week. Or every day! You need healing during the meetings, in the hallway, at the prayer meeting, on the telephone, and even in the mirror! Demons galore! And never enough possessions. If you are of humble means, there is something 'wrong' with you! Inmyheart, this is nothing less than performance-based salvation. You are not the only one who believes in all the promises of God. Most Christians do, but on a more God-based measure and timetable. My fellow forumer, you may have never been involved with such abuses. Bless you if this is true. But many of this group HAVE, and many have been hurt by it. You are guilty by association. By the way, I am an eye-witness to such tomfoolery. Please don't say, "It's not like that!" It IS! Charis, Eph. 3:20-21 Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen. Greetings, you say "I am guessing that you have had relatively few sick days, and overcome many obstacles in your Christian walk." And I say Amen! God not only saved me and added my name to the book of life, but delivered me from my addictions (alcohol and drugs), anointed me to say yes to the counsel of His will. All of my household have been saved (that's in itself is awesome), and yes, I have not experienced any sickness since receiving Christ into my life (over 2 yrs.), actually I thought this was common until I began meeting other Christians who say this is a bunch of hog wash, can you imagine that! Anyway I was reading this book called the Bible, and reading Ephesians, and when I came across Ch. 2 v.10, I gave my life to God. I was not able to walk, but I went to church and this pastor prayed for my leg, he told me not to doubt, but just believe, now I'm walking. So what do you say I should call this? Healed, receive or delievered? or a bunch of baloney :) What about those with a 'less-favorable' testimony? Do we teach them that God may or may not fullfill His promises? That was only for those in the bible? Created loop holes, just in case nothing happens? Charis, I hear you, believe me I do! I go through those valley's too, but I know also that His goodness and mercy is following me everywhere I go. I pray every day to do the will of our Father, and I do stumble, but God tells me that He will never leave me or forsake me, hey that's good enough for me. I'm challenged every day of my life, there is a accurer of the brethren, that old lying devil that doesn't want me to believe God's promises, he is after my soul, and I resist him. He'll use others to cast those thoughts too, but we (I have read this in the Word) are to cast those thoughts down. God has a purpose for my life, as yours, we were planned for God's pleasure, formed for God's family, created to be like Christ, shaped for serving God and made for a mission.
