1 | Is God's will prosperity/healing always? | Rom 8:28 | EdB | 67640
Jesified Ignored??? The health wealth gospel has permeated nearly every denomination and church. Why else do you think Christians in America have become so self centered and self absorbed. The church has patterned society everything is focused on self and enjoying life here on earth. Living longer and getting richer and forget all the unpleasantries. America’s churches have so learned to focus on the present situation that eternity means little. I know a couple that left a church because the Pastor was teaching on the rapture and they didn’t want to think about the rapture in fact they didn’t want Christ to return because they had just gotten married and wanted to have kids and grandchildren. Look at the stats. Mission giving falling all time low, giving to charity falling, church attendance falling, divorce within the church higher rate than outside church, sin within the church rising. No I think the Health and Wealth gospel is anything but ignored. EdB |

2 | Is God's will prosperity/healing always? | Rom 8:28 | Hank | 67659
My dear EdB: Shiver my timbers, brother, but am I surprised at you! Don't you read your Bible? Don't you know that Genesis says that God created man in His own image, but that today human beings have become too smart to fall for that old tale? We have learned how to create God in OUR image, and that's exactly what many so-called churches who cater to the whims of so-called Christians do..... They make the old builders of the Tower of Babel look like rank amateurs. And, Ed, wist thou not that Jesus was filthy rich? He had His own private stockbroker, albeit a crooked one, Judas Iscariot (doesn't Iscariot mean stockbroker in Hebrew?), to manage his vast portfolio. Obviously He chose Matthew the tax collector as a buddy so that He could learn all the loop-holes in the tax law. And it is well documented in Holy Writ that Jesus had a large 20-bedroom villa on the shores of Lake Galilee, with a five-chariot garage and a color TV in every room. That robe of His that the Roman soldiers cast lots for, why that thing was easily worth several million dollars. It was studded with about ten pounds of diamonds, not to mention the rubies and pearls. .... And if God practices child abuse by letting little kids get sick and die, well, that's the way it goes when one subscribes to this wacky new theology. To sum up: Few times in my life have I read more sheer rubbish (your posts and certain others excluded, Ed) than I've read on this nutty thread. My father was fond of saying that both those who were clever enough and those who were stupid enough could twist Scripture into saying just about anything that struck their fancy. I do believe my dear old dad was right. --Hank
3 | Is God's will prosperity/healing always? | Rom 8:28 | EdB | 67661
Hank It breaks my heart to see how Satan has managed to deceive the church in this matter. He has successfully manage to get us to take our eyes off the cross and focus rather on our state of being. Satan has successfully gotten us to take our eyes off the eternal and focus on the temporial. It is no longer what Christ has done for us but what can He do for us. Of course God wants the best for us but many times that best is not always health and wealth. EdB |
