1 | Can one who commits suicide be saved? | Ex 20:13 | HeirofGod | 469
God does not forgive suicide because the person who committed the sin can not ask for forgiveness afterwards. God can forgive you for commiting a murder to another person if you live to repent, but if there is no life left in your body to repent you are not forgiven. The bible says you have not because you ask not. If you can't ask you can't get it.
2 | Can one who commits suicide be saved? | Ex 20:13 | Good Samaritan | 10963
This answer makes the body equal to the spirit and implies that death of the body ends all! The spirit always was and always will be and anyone can seek, ask at any point during or after "death". Didn't Christ prove to us that there was no spiritual death? He simply laid aside the body he traveled in while here on earth. Resurrection was the message, not death. God wants all his sheep home with him, even the so called sinner or one who made the "error". No where in the bible does it say that if you didn't ask while in the body, you never get another chance!
3 | Can one who commits suicide be saved? | Ex 20:13 | Morant61 | 10971
Greetings Good Samaritan! Laying aside the issue of suicide, you seem to be making several very controversial statements. Would you please provide some Scriptural support for the following statements? 1) "The spirit always was and always will be ...." I am assuming here that you are referring to the human spirit. Where in Scripture is it taught that the human spirit is immortal? We know that once created, the human spirit continues from that point on, but I am not aware of any Scripture that teaches that are spirits existed prior to our birth. 2) "anyone can seek, ask at any point during or after "death"." Where is Scripture does it say that someone can ask for or receive forgiveness after death? In Christ, Tim Moran |

4 | Can one who commits suicide be saved? | Ex 20:13 | Good Samaritan | 10984
Welcome and Blessings Tim, While not a bible scholar, I will do my best to respond to your thoughtful response. 1. I wasn't referring to the human spirit, but to the Spirit of God, of Christ, the Holy Spirit in us. "Human and spirit' seem to imply the body is equal with the spirit of God. This deserves more quotes, but these might be a starter: Romans 8:29-30 states, "For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the first-born among many brethren; and whom He predestined, these He also called; and whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified." Ephesians 1:4-5, 11 reads, "Just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before Him. In love He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of His will...also we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to His purpose who works all things after the counsel of His will." Ephesians 2:8 suggests that even our faith is a gift from God. In 2 Thessalonians 2:13, the apostle Paul tells his readers, "God has chosen you from the beginning for salvation." Ps 51:11, No believer of the present church Age need ever pray, 'take not thy HOLY SPIRIT from me; for Christ promised His own that the Spirit would abide with you forever' (Jn. 14:16; compare Eph. 4:30) "image of His Son" doesn't refer to Jesus body" nor ours. 2. So, if Holy Spirit abides forever within us, might not this suggest the death of the body is not an "end"? This also brings up the idea that the body doesn't think (ask), but the spiritual mind does all the communicating. Jesus didn't stop communicating after His body was not evident. No where in the bible does it say otherwise that I could find. We feebly try to define the indefinable, but what does "forever" mean if not "timeless?" I see this as "always was, always will be." Thank you my brother, Good Samaritan |

5 | Can we change eternity after death? | Ex 20:13 | Morant61 | 11037
Greetings Good Samaritan! Thanks for the response! I still do not believe that Scripture teaches that people can accept or reject Christ after death. This seems to be what you are saying! If I have misunderstood you please let me know! The evidence from Scripture seems very strong that a persons "fate" is set at death. Consider the following evidence. 1) Heb. 9:27 says, "Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment," 2) The thief on the cross was told by Jesus "I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise." (Luke 23:43). 3) Paul said that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord - Phil. 1:23 and 2 Cor. 5:8. 4) Finally, in the story of Lazarus and the Rich Man (Luke 16:19-31), the rich man desperately wanted relief from his suffering but was told, "And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been fixed, so that those who want to go from here to you cannot, nor can anyone cross over from there to us.’" This would definitely indicate that upon death, a person's eternal destiny is sealed. 6 | Can we change eternity after death? | Ex 20:13 | Searcher56 | 11042
Great Answer Pastor Tim, My first thought was the parable of Lazarus and the Rich Man (Luk 16:19-31) as well Hebrews 9:27. There are many who teach you can teach you can have another chance, including reincarnationalists. Steve |
