1 | What if you don't obey that command? | Rom 6:4 | mbooker | 56695 | ||
boy oh boy!! this is some subject!! I know a man who visited our church and he was upset because the pastor did not immediately water baptize those that came forward to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. At our church, baptism is done on the 3rd Sunday. I make the distinction of 'water' baptism because so far in scripture I have seen 3 different agents used in baptism. water: John answered them, saying, I baptize with water: but there standeth one among you, whom ye know not; John 1:26 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance. but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire: Matt 3:11 John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire: Luke 3:16 And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost. John 1:33 For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence. Acts 1:5 Holy Ghost/fire: I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance. but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire: Matt 3:11 John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire: Luke 3:16 And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost. John 1:33 For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence. Acts 1:5 the body of Christ: For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. 1 Cor 12:13 For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. Gal 3:27 Having said all that :) My question(s)/comment(s) are these: I will not use a hypothetical. I am going to use myself. I came forward and accepted Jesus as Lord and Saviour but I was not immediately baptized. It was a couple of weeks later (that 3rd Sunday evening at 6 pm :) ). Now, given my case, since I was not water baptized immediately after making my confession, was I being disobedient to God? If God commands that after we believe, we get baptized immediately, was my getting water baptized weeks later done in vain? btw, I am ASSURED of my salvation and KNOW without a doubt that I am born from above, so my post is simply to get feed back on the questions that popped in my head after reading through this thread. I also hope that 'we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ' Abba Father bless each and every one of you... |

"Now, given my case, since I was not water baptized immediately after making my confession, was I being disobedient to God?" "If God commands that after we believe, we get baptized immediately, was my getting water baptized weeks later done in vain?" You are the first one on this forum to ask a question like the one's you asked above. The answer to your question is this, If you believe the bible examples of conversions, did you do it like the bible saids? Believe this it is not your fault only, the one who taught you that way must bear some of the blame. Just study the book of Acts and asked the right questions, and if no one can give you a bible answer then please leave that place and sreach for the true church, where they believe all of what the bible saids about salvation. Remember in the book of Acts is your example, don't let no one change what you read is the bible. Romans 3:4 Let it not be! Let God be found true, but every person false; as it is written, That you might be justified in your words and prevail when you are judged. THE BIBLE IS RIGHT. |
