1 | What if you don't obey that command? | Rom 6:4 | Morant61 | 56707 | ||
Greetings Mbooker! Since Scripture nowhere says that one must be baptized immediately, one cannot be disobedient to a non-existent command! We are certainly commanded to be baptized, but Scripture no where specifies nor mandates a certain time table. Most denominations simply encourage one to be baptized as soon as possible. This may meaning waiting a few weeks or months until the local church has it's next baptism service. However, I do remember praying with a man once who accepted Christ in the dead of winter. He wanted to be baptized that very night. So, we went to a members home and broke the ice in their pool and baptized him. Baptism is commanded and is an important part of our Christian witness, but it does not save nor is it necessary for salvation. So, I would say that your baptism was and is perfectly valid! :-) Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
