1 | What if you don't obey that command? | Rom 6:4 | kalos | 56456
Aspiring Overseer: You quote Heb 5:9 "And having been made perfect, He became to all those who obey Him the source of eternal salvation," NAS. And then you write: "He is the source, IF, we obey Him." I merely wish to point out that our obedience is the result, not the cause of our being saved. Grace to you, kalos |

3 | What if you don't obey that command? | Rom 6:4 | kalos | 56833
All those who obey Him have eternal salvation. Obedience is an evidence of genuine saving faith. Obedience is the result, not the cause, of salvation. Nothing in Hebrews 5:9 indicates otherwise. Hebrews 5:9 '*obey Him.* True salvation evidences itself in obedience to Christ, from the initial obedience to the gospel command to repent and believe (compare Acts 5:32; Rom. 1:5; 2 Thess 1:8; 1 Pet. 1:2,22;4:17) to a life patern of obedience to the Word (cf. Rom. 6:16)' (MacArthur Study Bible). |
