Bible Question:
Would anyone suggest, or advise someone to purchase a NIV bible, what are some of your thoughts on it? Realible, accurate, devotional?. Love in Christ Jackson Gal.6:14 |
Bible Answer: To me it's much easier to read and understand than the KJV (AV). As an example here are two completely random verses, I just opened my KJV and this is what I saw: Luke X:8 (KJV) "And into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you: Here is the corresponding NIV version: Luke X:8 (NIV) " When you enter a town and are welcomed, eat what is set before you. The NIV is just easier to read. It has been translated into "modern" English, and not the "Kings English" of the early 17th century. Phrases such as: "Verily, Verily I say unto you..." and puts them into the modern: "I tell you the truth..." Hope this helps Russ |
