Bible Note: Makarios Personally I use the NKJV, NASB ESV and NLT. The point I was trying to make about the NLT is that is very useful in situations where reading and comprehension skills may not be to high. I have found translations like KJV, NASB and NKJV can become problematic when used with people that read and speak English as a second language. I find you fight two problems comprehension of words and sentence structure. NLT seems to combat those problems. As for the gender inclusiveness unlike in other translations that did this the NLT didn't change gender or try the neutralize or feminize anyone. They used terms that include both genders where this was the writers obvious intent. Such as speaking of Christians, where KJV may call us sons of God NLT would call us children of God. My favorite translation remains the NKJV and NASB with ESV coming close behind. EdB |
