Bible Note: Hi Hank, I love the old KJV but what you are saying is absolutely right. There are just some old dogs like me that have a hard time jumping through some of the new hoops. We are truly blessed with all the translations that are available. The problem with me is that I have memorized all the Scripture that I know from the KJV. I have a difficult time finding a particular verse in a NIV concordance because I’m not exactly sure how the verse goes. I have to find it first in the KJV then look it up in the NIV and the rest of the translations and lastly the Greek. You will notice many times though, when trying to explain something, if it is clearer, that I will use other translations. If the final results would bring a person to a saving faith in Christ I would use anything that is readable. It appears to me sometimes that the NIV changes things just to be different as though they are showing opposition to the KJV and that I have a hard time excepting. When I witness to someone or hold a Bible study I have to use my old KJV because I have it so marked up that I would be like a fish out of water using anything else. Maybe that isn't right but it's just me. Have a great day, CDBJ |
