I'm a christian (fairly conservative by most standards) and I'm 50 years old. I've been married for 29 years, first and only marriage for both of us. I'm retired military, was overseas for 8 years w/my family. My wife and I have two sons but they're grown and married now. Now, we have two grandsons and one granddaughter. I've lived in several different states of the US and have seen much good and just a little bad all over the world. I grew up in the South and will most likely die in the same but I do hope to continue my sight-seeing around the country and the world. I work with a computer and a bunch of paperwork. Same kind of work I was doing in the military.

About my christian background: I was baptized in my 13th year, 37 years ago. I was a deacon several years ago in a previous congregation. I've been teaching adults in Bible classes for only a couple of years but have taught kids and teens all my life. I grew up in a christian home. My father was both a deacon and an elder but is now retired and publishes pamphlets of Bible topics, mostly encouraging people in his congregation. Just recently, I've been appointed as a deacon in my current congregation.

Apparently, I needed to add this for the benefit of all. I've studied the Bible all my life and will continue to quote from it when it's actually needed but I'll also continue to draw conclusions and infer certain things from God's Word, especially when it too is needed AND it's not prohibited by the Spirit of the Bible.

I like to give special emphasis to the NT as opposed to the OT since it was fulfilled by Christ's going to the cross. The OT is definitely helpful in understanding the NT but when there's a slight difference like divorce and marriage, it's clear we must abide by the NT as these will be the words by which we will be judged.

One more tidbit: My Forum nickname was chosen as I went by that moniker in a previous life, my military life. It was imposed on me in jest as I'm a peace-loving, easy going kind of guy.

God bless all who participate on this Forum. I pray for all of you although I might ocassionally forget to mention as much in my posts.
